HAIR TRANSPLANTATION FOR WOMEN

Hair Loss and Hair Thinning in Women

Hair loss and hair thinning in women can be caused by various factors. Understanding the primary causes of hair loss is essential for maintaining hair health and determining the most suitable treatment methods.

Causes of Hair Loss

  1. Seasonal Changes: Hair loss can increase during seasonal transitions, particularly in spring and autumn.
  2. Health Issues: Thyroid disorders, skin conditions, and certain medications (e.g., chemotherapy) can lead to hair loss.
  3. Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Breastfeeding: These phases cause hormonal changes that may trigger hair loss.
  4. Psychological Factors:Excessive stress, depression, and emotional distress significantly contribute to hair loss.
  5. Unbalanced Diet and Vitamin Deficiency: A lack of essential vitamins and nutrients can negatively affect hair health and cause hair thinning.
  6. Chemical Treatments and Excessive Styling: Frequent hair dyeing, straightening, and chemical treatments can damage hair and lead to hair loss.
  7. Burns and Injuries: Hair loss can become permanent due to burns or physical trauma.
  8. Genetic Factors: Women with a family history of hair loss have a higher risk of experiencing it themselves.

Treatment Options for Hair Loss

Various treatments can help reduce hair loss, including medications, Minoxidil applications, mesotherapy, and vitamin supplements. These methods can promote hair regrowth and slow down hair loss unless the hair follicles are permanently damaged, such as in burn cases. If none of these treatments stop the hair loss, or if the condition progresses further, it may be classified as androgenetic alopecia (genetic hair loss). In such cases, hair transplantation is the most effective solution.

Note: Hair transplantation is also a successful solution for age-related hair loss.

Hair Transplantation for Women

Hair transplantation for women differs in some aspects from that for men. While men often require a full shave before transplantation, women only need a small shaved area in the donor region at the nape of the neck. Longer hair naturally covers this area, making the procedure almost invisible.

Hair Transplantation Process:

  •  Anesthesia and Graft Extraction: Under local anesthesia, healthy hair follicles are extracted using the FUE technique with a micromotor. For approximately 2,000 grafts (around 5,000 hairs), this process takes about 1.5 hours and is completely painless.
  • Implantation Phase: The extracted hair follicles are implanted into the bald areas using the Choi/DHI technique. During the procedure, patients feel no pain and can even relax, listen to music, or watch TV. This phase takes about 2 hours.
  • Post-Procedure Care: After the transplantation is completed, the donor area is bandaged. The bandages are removed after two days, followed by the first hair wash. Since hair transplantation for women is less invasive, the success rate is very high.
